(Mini) Review from New Noise Magazine

None is an atmospheric black metal band from Portland, Oregon.

The band is gearing up for their fourth album, Inevitable, which is due out on June 30 on Hypnotic Dirge Records. For now, the first single, “Rest”—which is also the album’s closing track—is available to stream on their Bandcamp where you can also preorder their album on vinyl or CD.

“Rest” is an epic, 10-minute track that certainly lives up to the atmospheric element of atmospheric black metal. The song has a pretty constant fuzzy sound to it throughout the whole track as the vocals take on a distinctly black metal edge. It really creates an ambient, heavy-metal white noise that creates a sense of darkness and anxiety. There’s a brief break in the fuzziness about three minutes before the end of the track where it abruptly shifts to a simple piano, but quickly returns to creating that raging metal atmosphere.

It’s been a long four-year silence...

But sometimes, just sometimes, an album comes along that just makes me break my silence; like the thornbird that impales itself and sings the most beautiful parting song. And I have never been one to shy away from writing my innermost thoughts when it comes to music, even though I prefer to keep those...
