This is a review of a split album between United Kingdom's Eye Of Solitude and Belgium's Marche Funebre which will be released in March as a joint effort between Hypnotic Dirge and Cimmerian Shade Recordings and we will start off the review with Eye Of Solitude a band that plays funeral doom metal.
Their side of the split starts out with tragic sounding clean playing along with some melodic vocals a few seconds later and after awhile the music goes into more of an atmospheric and heavier funeral doom metal direction which also introduces death metal growls onto the recording.
Their track is 16 minutes in length while the riffs also bring in a great amount of dark sounding melodies along with the solos and leads being done in a very melodic fashion as well as the music always sticking to a very slow direction, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover sorrow and negativity themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding track from Eye of Solitude and if you are a fan of funeral doom metal, you should check out their side of the split.
Next up is Marche Funebre a band that has been featured before in this zine and plays an atmospheric mixture of black, doom and death metal.
Their side of the split starts out with clean playing and powerful sounding bass guitars along with some melodic vocals a few seconds later before going into a heavier musical direction while the solos and leads also use a great amount of melody as well as the vocals being mostly death metal growls.
Black metal screams can also be heard at times while the riffs also bring in a great amount of melody along with the track being 14 minutes in length and the music always sticks to a very slow direction, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Literature, Grief and Philosophy themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding track from Marche Funebre and if you are a fan of atmospheric black, doom, and death metal, you should check out their side of the split.
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and would recommend to all fans of blackened doom, funeral doom and atmospheric doom/death metal.
